Parking permits

In some areas of the city there are residents parking zones. If you live or own a business in one of these areas you will need a parking permit to allow you to park on the road. Pavement Parking

Vehicles parking on verges and pavements are becoming an increasing problem throughout the city - it is contrary to the Highways Act, can often be an obstruction to other users of the highway and if there are double yellow lines it is a contravention under the Traffic Management Act, resulting in the issue of a parking ticket.

Privately owned and operated car parks

There are a number of private companies providing car parking for general public in Southampton. There may be height or weight restrictions at these car parks. Please see individual car parks for details. There are parking charges, but these will vary depending on the car park used and the length of stay.
