The City Council is working to develop an integrated transport system and cycling is a key component in encouraging more sustainable ways of travelling.
A city cycling plan was formally adopted in June 2000 and has targets for increasing bike use while reducing accidents involving cyclists.
Substantial investment is underway in the city's cycle network and facilities.
This is being progressed with key partner organisations, interested groups and individuals via the Southampton Cycle Forum.
