Trading Standards works in partnership with Consumer Direct - a UK sited telephone advice service.
Product safety
Consumers and Businesses need to be certain that the goods they buy and sell are safe. Most consumer goods have to comply to standards controlling how they are made, and that appropriate instructions for use are provided. Sometimes toys and goods which comply with the production standards can be faulty, or one individual item might be unsafe. For help on dealing with defective goods please see Consumer Direct website. Equipment and adaptations for people with disabilities
If you have a disability or long term illness you may be able to have special equipment and/or your home adapted to help you live independently.

Repairs made to council properties which can be charged to the tenant.
Grants for improving facilities for disabled people
If you find living at home is difficult because of a disability, you may be able to get a grant to adapt your home to make it easier to live there. The work can be funded by the Disabled Facilities Grant. You can apply for the grant if you own your home, rent or live with family.
