Telephone and Internet Registration

Telephone and Internet Registration

Every year the Council is required by law to undertake a voter registration campaign during Mid-August to November. Each household is sent a form showing the names currently registered to vote at that particular address.

This year, for the first time in Southampton, if all the elector details printed for a property are going to remain the same, it will be possible for the person completing the form to confirm the existing details by calling a freephone number, you will need a touch-tone telephone to be able to use this service or through a web-site by following the instructions on the form.

At the same time as allowing people to renew existing entries, telephone and internet registration will allow the person confirming the details to request postal vote application forms and to make changes to the Edited Register ‘opt out’ status of existing voters.

To use either telephone or internet registration you will be asked to input a six digit security code, then a second four digit code. These unique codes will be printed in the top right-hand corner of the form.

This service will be available 24 hours a day and 7 days a week throughout the canvass period.

Please note telephone and internet registration is only available for a limited period of time, for more information please see the ‘Additional notes relating to the Voters Registration Form’ which is included with the voter registration form.

Make sure your details are included in the Register of Electors, if they are not you will not be able to vote.
