Southampton is a clean city. Independent inspectors found our city streets to be 98% clean, making Southampton in the top 25% of cities in the UK. (Clean is defined as no litter visible or small items of litter only.)

Enviro-watch
The enviro-watch scheme has been developed to encourage groups of residents who would like to help look after their immediate locality.
Fly posting - removal
This service deals with the removal of fly posting across the city. Fly posting can be any posters or advertisements illegally placed on buildings and highway furniture.
Fly tipping - removal
Fly tipping is any waste which is dumped without authority. The council has a responsibility to collect fly tipping from public land such as highways etc. If you see any fly tipping which looks like it may be on public land please report it.
Graffiti - removal
This service deals with the removal of graffiti from public property. We aim to remove offensive graffiti within 1 day and all other graffiti on public property within 5 days. We also work with community groups to encourage local clean up of graffiti where possible. If you see any graffiti on public property please let us know by contacting Actionline.
Grounds maintenance - landscaping
This service provides landscaping on the cities open spaces and play areas.
Horticultural Service Standard
Grass cutting, and maintenance of shrub beds, hedges and play areas.
Sparkling shopping areas
Shopping areas are key areas to keep clean and most shopping areas are cleaned at least on a daily basis. In the district and city centre areas there are dedicated staff working all day to keep the areas sparkling.
Street cleaning programme
This service provides cleaning of streets and pavements across Southampton.
