Details of service:

A renewal of marriage vows ceremony can be a wonderful way of celebrating a special milestone wedding anniversary or a fitting way to re-affirm commitment following a difficult period in a couple's relationship. It can also provide an opportunity for those who marry abroad to restate their marriage vows in a special celebration held for family and friends when they return.

In Southampton ceremonies can be held in The Golden Jubilee Room, 6a Bugle Street or in any of the approved premises that are licensed for civil marriages. It may also be possible to hold a ceremony in another venue, including a private residence or garden. This would be subject to an inspection of the premises for health and safety purposes (please speak to the superintendent registrar for advice).

The ceremony allows the freedom for each couple to create a unique celebration, working within the prescribed framework, to suit their own particular requirements. Speeches, readings and music from your wedding may be given or played again. Changes in your lives can be acknowledged allowing your children or grandchildren to contribute and new promises may be made to reflect your plans for your continuing future together. Old rings may be rededicated or new rings exchanged and to mark your ceremony a special commemorative certificate will be witnessed, signed and presented.

For further information or to book your ceremony please contact the superintendent registrar. If the ceremony is to be at one of the approved premises you will also need to contact the venue.

Please note: a renewal of vows ceremony has no legal status, it is purely ceremonial.
