Death certificates can be purchased from the Registrar. Each certificate costs £3.50 whilst in a current register, or £7.00 once the register has been completed and deposited with the Superintendent Registrar.

Once an inquest has been held the Coroner will send a report to the Registrar in the district where the death occurred The Registrar will then register the death without anyone having to attend to do so.

The Coroner may inform the Registrar of the name and the address of the person to notify that the death has been registered. In that case the Registrar will contact that person and issue a Form BD8 for Social Security purposes. This should be completed and sent to the local DSS Office as soon as possible.
