How to report work related incidents
We inspect certain accidents, illness and ‘near misses’ which happen at work, or because of a business. This helps us to make sure that other people are not harmed in the future. This page tells you how to report work-related incidents.

Details of service:
Employers, the self-employed and those in control of premises must, by law, report some types of work-related accidents, diseases and dangerous occurrences (The Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 1995).
If one of your employees, a customer or other person has been, or could have been hurt or made ill because of your business, then you must report the details. Similarly, if you have been hurt or made ill because of your work, or another business, or if there has been a ‘near miss’ which could have harmed you, then you can also report details to the Incident Contact Centre (ICC). Please see the link on the right of this page.
The ICC takes reports about companies all over England, Wales and Scotland, and they refer them to the local enforcing authority (either the local council or the Health and Safety Executive (HSE)). When the ICC sends us a report about an incident involving a Southampton business then we may investigate. This is to help make sure that it does not happen again and that people will be safe. We may also take legal action if we feel it is necessary.
