The National Care Standards Commission takes up its regulatory functions in respect of nurses agencies under the Care Standards Act 2000 on 1 April 2003. This guidance sets out the process for the transfer of existing agencies licensed under the Nurses Agency Act 1957 into registration under the new system. It replaces the guidance on nurses agencies contained in "National Care Standards Commision transitional provisions and transfer of registration" issued on 14 November 2001 under covers of LAC (2001) 30. Some local authorities may have provided information on nurses agencies in the past, but in view of the delay in the NCSC assumin the regulatory role for nurses agencies, some agencies, some agencies may well have moved premises or other changes taken place, and the NCSC need up-to-date information.
