Headspace
Headspace: open evenings exclusively for young people at Burgess Road Library.
Headspace is a library space designed and run by young people

Southampton Library Service is one of twenty library authorities in England that is developing a new approach to library services for teenagers.
From the end of this month, Burgess Road library will be opening one evening a week just for young people over the age of 11.
Young people will be able to use the pcs and borrow books and DVDs in a more relaxed atmosphere. They will also be invited to design an area of the library for teenagers; to decide what books, CDs and DVDs should be bought for it; and to choose the furniture. They will also be able to decide what activities they want to take place there on the open evenings.
Headspace is a project partly funded by the Big Lottery and coordinated nationally by The Reading Agency. Headspace at Burgess Road is being developed by Southampton Library Service, Southampton Youth Service and Cantell School.
