Creepy Crawlies
Come and join our pre-school group for children aged 3-5 and bring a fun loving adult to.
Explore the Common and it’s wildlife through the changing seasons with our outdoor activities, crafts, stories and games. Build a ‘log’ of all your experiences, month by month, to show what clever Creepy Crawlies your are.
The sessions follow a general format of a welcome and introduction followed by outdoor activities and then back to the centre for a drink, snack and a story. We will be following the development of the Creepy Crawlies Tree through the seasons as it grows leaves, flowers and fruit. Each season will focus on a different sensory experience to encourage full awareness of our surroundings.
Children will be given a ‘log’ book to stick things into and for recording their experiences and achievements throughout their visits.
Continue to think about the natural world on your doorstep by collecting the resources for an activity to do at home each month.
We like to encourage healthy living at the Hawthorns, therefore the drink will be water and the snack will be fruit. You are welcome to bring a healthy alternative for your child if you would prefer.
We will aim to spend at least some of each session outdoors so please dress appropriately for the weather conditions of the day.
Booking
To enable us to plan session and the resources required, we ask that you book and pay in advance to secure your place. You are welcome to book several months in advance.
Due to the public nature of the Hawthorns Centre we ask that all children are accompanied and that adults accompany a maximum of two children each.
We are unable to give refunds on any sessions. However, if your child is unable to attend a session we will reserve a place on the next session for free of charge, provided that you telephone to inform us before the session begins at 10am.
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions regarding the sessions.
