Southampton offers a range of arts opportunities comparable to the best in the country.
The city's art galleries, internationally recognised, attract over 90,000 visitors a year. Southampton is the entertainment capital of the south, offering the full spectrum of performing arts from world music to West End musicals. Also recognised as a hub for media activity, the city features regional TV and Radio centres, community production facilities, photography and digital arts opportunities and one of the country's best independent cinemas.
Southampton is also a fantastic place to study the arts at all levels, with specialist schools, two universities and a huge range of further education opportunities.

Southampton's new arts complex
Visual, performing, moving image and Asian arts organisations, with equipment and facilities for community and professional performers, artists and film-makers, will occupy the lower floors of a larger residential scheme, featuring landmark towers and overlooking East Park.
