Home maintenance help - Handy Person


(Also known as: Handy Person Service)

The Handy Persons scheme is a partnership between Southampton City Council and Wessex Property Services. It provides a free or low cost service to carry out minor repairs to homes for home occupiers over 60, and certain other residents living within the city. There is also a criteria and an assessment requirement. Our Handy Person can carry out simple maintenance tasks you may be unable to do yourself - from changing a light bulb to fixing a broken step. A free assessment is available to everyone, and if you do decide to go ahead with work there are reduced rates for labour and materials.

Who can use this service:

To take advantage of this service, you need to be a home occupier over 60. Certain other residents may also be eligible.

Charges:

Costs will depend on work required. Labour costs and materials up to £25 are free if you receive certain benefits.
