Shopping areas are key areas to keep clean and most shopping areas are cleaned at least on a daily basis. In the district and city centre areas there are dedicated staff working all day to keep the areas sparkling.

Shopping areas are key areas to keep clean and most shopping areas are cleaned at least on a daily basis. In the district and city centre areas there are dedicated staff working all day to keep the areas Sparkling. As part of the Sparkling Southampton programme the city council has been using a range of machinery to wash and scrub pavements, removing greasy spills and litter.
Local business are being encouraged to take a pride in their shopping precincts by joining the Tidy Business Award scheme that recognises where local shops have good housekeeping when it comes to waste and those that help look after the local area.
